About Jinnah International Airport
Jinnah International Airport (KHI), commonly known as Karachi Airport, serves Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and commercial capital. Named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, it is the country’s second-busiest airport by total passengers, after Islamabad International Airport, and one of the oldest airports in the Asia-Pacific region, having opened in 1929.
The airport is owned and operated by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA). It serves as the primary hub for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and as an operating base for airblue, Fly Jinnah, and SereneAir. International carriers including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Saudia, and flydubai operate regular services from Karachi to major hubs across the Middle East and beyond.
All scheduled passenger flights operate from a single building, the Jinnah Terminal Complex, split into the East Satellite for international flights and the West Satellite for domestic flights. A separately numbered Terminal 2 is used only for seasonal Hajj charter operations.
The airport handled 6,711,131 passengers between July 2024 and June 2025, an increase of 3.87% year-on-year, according to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority statistics.
